In this post, I will be presenting 10 Nigerian business ideas that can be implemented in Nigeria. This post is the 6th part of the series and I highly recommend that you go through part 1-5 (Ideas #1-50) in the series if you are serious about starting your own business in Nigeria and you are trying to generate ideas.

Let the Ideas continue:

51. NGO/Welfare: I heard on CNN a few days ago that 1 in 5 Americans are going to bed hungry. If that statement is true I wonder what the ratio would be in Nigeria. It would be great to see the ‘Food-bank culture’ start in Nigeria. A place where no/low-income families can go and shop for food stuffs for free. This Idea is something I definitely see myself executing in the future. We cannot have too many of it in our communities. We as a people have to learn to help the helpless.

52. Production/Food: Nigerians, like Jamaicans and love spicy food. We use a lot of dry spices when cooking and doing our barbecues.  As long as you get the ‘spice’ part right, you might be on your way to possibly buildings profitable dry spice mix business for yourself.

53. Property/Management: When I say management, I do not mean being an estate facility manager. The idea is to have home facility managers. There are many people who have big houses and have no time to manage it. You can start a business that manages individual homes. (If you are familiar with the story of Joseph in the bible, this idea is exactly what he was doing in Potiphars house except that you won’t have to live with the owners of the houses you manage).

54. Food/Confectionery: The last time I checked, Nigeria was still a producer of Cocoa. Cocoa is the main ingredient for chocolate. We should start producing our own chocolates rich in cocoa and stop patronizing these big international brands that do not produce authentic quality chocolate.

55. Services/Laundry: This idea is really to help those working class/very busy individuals who do not have time to sit at home on a weekend washing their clothes for 2 hours. They might love to have a laundry mart in their neighborhood

56. Manufacturing/Toys: Children are easily assumed and sometimes I wonder how Peek-a-boos can get them so excited. The toys I remember playing with the most while growing up are bay-watch Barbie, tamagotchi and power rangers (I was billy the blue ranger ;). We can design and manufacture our own made in Nigeria toys.

57. Tech/Transportation: Imagine you are able to fashion a device that tracks the location of a public bus and then transmits accurate and on time information to those commuters patiently waiting for the bus at a bus stop. We have trackers on phones why can’t we have bus trackers.

58. Service/Translator: A service can be created that employs personal translators. This service is specifically  good for expatriate who want to go into certain rural areas in Nigeria and need a reliable interpreter to travel around with.

59. Entertainment/Children’s Books: Although writing a book might take time, depending on the story line and other factors, If you have a passion for story telling, and you can write, there are many options for you, including self publishing.

60. Content editor: There are people that have an eye for perfect grammar, tenses and so forth. Many have even spent 3-4 years acquiring an English related degree that qualifies them to professionally edit other people’s written work. So many people are churning out literary work/academic work that need to be professionally edited. You can start a business that provides ‘editing’ services for other.

If you have an idea that you believe will be a good addition to the list, you can send an email to info@startupdemands.com or leave a comment via the contact tab above with your name and the idea you want to share, and I will publish it along with the next series. Cheers

Start and Stay inspired. Together we can make Nigeria  great.
